NewsKlaxons: 'Tony Wilson was a true innovator'Klaxons have paid tribute to Factory Records founder Tony Wilson, who died of a heart attack on Friday (August 10) aged 57, describing him as a "true innovator". Speaking to NME.COM from Japan, where Klaxons are on tour, band member James Righton recalled meeting Wilson at the Coachella festival earlier this year. "He took time out to speak to us," Righton recalled. "What really struck me was how passionately he talked about new music and the In The City music conference he organised, despite his illness. "He was so determined to be there and introduce the Happy Mondays, which he did. He was an innovator and a true legend. He will be sorely missed." You can read Tony Wilson's obituary along with a host of tributes led by New Order and Alan McGee on NME.COM now. Sage Francis Hooks Up With Artist Inkymole Transcending visual and sonic artistic boundaries, Sage Francis and London-based visual artist Inkymole have built a mutually inspiring relationship of late. Francis is the muse of Inkymole's If A Girl Writes Off The World exhibit, which will come to New York in the beginning of May, and Inkymole has provided artwork for Sage Francis's LP, Human The Death Dance, due out May 8 on Anti-. Having completed a residency in London that began last October, Inkymole's exhibit was met with substantial acclaim. In a press release about her involvement with Human The Death Dance, which?a month from its releasemdash;has already pre-sold 3,000 copies on Francis's website, she says, "I couldn't wait, but I was suddenly terrified of this new client I was also a mad fan of." If A Girl Writes Off The World will inhabit New York City's Old Portico Space at the Chelsea Market from May 1-7, wrapping up just in time for the May 8 release of Human The Dead Dance. |
